Vine Cutting at Hunter Brook Preserve Date: Fri., January 20, 10:00 am-12:30 pm Location: Hunter Brook Preserve in Yorktown Parking: Parking is along the pull-off at Beekman Ct. Bathrooms: There are no bathrooms on site. This is a short event, but there are shops with bathrooms a couple miles away. Description: We will be working off-trail to remove vines from mature trees in the forest, using hand tools such as loppers and clippers. We will be walking about a quarter mile from the trailhead to the work site. What to bring: Water, snacks, long pants, close-toed shoes, work gloves, weather-appropriate clothing Safety: We will be working off-trail. There are some plants with thorns and may be ticks and poison ivy. The best way to prevent these hazards is wearing appropriate shoes, long pants and long sleeves. Difficulty: Intermediate to advanced. Attendees will need to walk off-trail through areas with thorny Japanese barberry. Appropriate for ages 12 and up, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Rose Preserve in Lewisboro Parking: Parking is in the lot at the end of the driveway about 200 yards north of Todd Rd off rt 121. If you are heading north, once you pass Todd Rd it will be the first driveway to the right. You will see a WLT Preserve Sign. Continue for about 100 yards to the gravel lot.
