Intro to Trail Maintenance Workshop

Registration is closed for this event
Join Local NY-NJ Trail Conference Volunteers for a hands-on experience learning about trail repair and maintenance. We will also learn the fundamentals of blazing a trail.

On this outing we will be clipping and clearing overgrown vegetation along the West Hook Mountain Trail where you can experience stunning vistas over the Hudson River while giving back to this phenomenal local trail. We will also be adding blazes to establish the official loop trail at West Hook Mountain.

No experience needed. We will provide tools and personal protective equipment (PPE), however, if you have a pair of work gloves, or clippers of your own, feel free to bring them. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the trail and plenty of water (at least 2L) and sunscreen. Over lunch, Volunteer Leaders will give a brief presentation about this land and share our vision for the future of the Long Path through this area.

Please also note that parking at the trailhead is limited. Make arrangements to carpool if you are coming with friends or family or reach out to Trail Conference Staff for advice.
