Going hiking next weekend! Here is a place to tell others where you are going and that you are willing to have others tag along with you. Take appropriate precautions in going with strangers.

The Trail Conference recommends that you keep day use party size under 25 and overnight use under 10. Some hiking area have stronger restrictions and may require permits for group use.'s picture

Looking for hikers to join me on weekdays or weekends. Looking to do day hikes, 3-8 miles, easy-moderate, moderate, moderate-strenuous. I usually hike in Harriman, Bear Mountain, Hudson Highlands state parks. Always interested in checking out new trails, open to any and all suggestions. Dave

I am a late middle aged female hiking the Long Path with my partner -- a late middle aged male who has already finished once. We are hoping to do Sections 18 and 19 -- from Denning Road to Phoenicia this weekend -- Aug. 12/13 or 13/14 in two days -- Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun camping out one night. We are looking for another hiker(s) to help with the shuttle. We do a very moderate pace. If not this weekend, then perhaps in the future -- let me know if you are interested in hiking the Long Path.

I posted in here a couple of years ago, and then unfortunately life got in the way so I was unable to see the responses that followed for a long time.  I have been trying to piece together completing the Long Path over the last 5 years or so, and have managed to complete about 220 miles thus far.   It is hard for me to get multiple days off in a row because of my job, so overnights have been a problem and I have been completeing the trail piece by piece on day hikes.  Currently I have most of the southern section of the trail left to hike with one section near Sam's Point .  Specifically I have sections 1-4, 6-7, 9-10, 12, and 14 left.  I am just looking for anybody who might be interested in meeting up and staging cars to complete some of these sections together.  I'm not looking to do big miles even though I am a very experienced hiker, but rather on the order of 9-15 miles in a day.  The way I look at it I have 9 hikes left (I think sections 1-3 can be easily combined into 2 seperate day hikes) and have set the goal of trying to finish by Labor Day.  If anybody would be interested in doing any of these sections, let me know and I will promise to get back to you as soon as possible...

We are AT section hikers.  This year we are starting at Bear Mountain Recreation Area, Hessian Lake.  We are looking for for a shuttle from the Enterprise car rental in Peekskill to the trailhead on Manitou Rd just north of the Hemlock Springs Campsite.  We have used the Appalachian Trail shuttle list in the past, but there is nothing listed locally for this area.  We are in need of a shuttle late afternoon on Friday, May 9, 2014.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.'s picture
