On the south side of Warwick Turnpike, opposite the parking turnout, you’ll see a sign that marks the start of the black-square-on-blue-blazed Terrace Pond North Spur. Follow this trail rather steeply uphill through beautiful rhododendron thickets, then continue along the trail as it climbs more gradually, with cliffs on the right.

After leveling off, the trail turns right and climbs...

Gorgeous views on a very rocky trail
Definitely one of my favorite hikes in NJ. I visited this trail on Oct. 11, 2021 and we hiked 7.9 mi. East views from the mountain on the walk south to Terrace Pond were stunning. Trail was very rocky and required a few scrambles as we neared Terrace Pond. Wear sturdy footwear. Terrace Pond is one of the prettiest waterbodies in the Garden State, although it can be jammed with noisy visitors on warm summer days. I've encountered plenty of wildlife around the pond over the years, including timber rattlesnakes, northern water snakes, red efts and a black bear. The scariest part of this hike is crossing Warwick Turnpike from the parking area to the trailhead. Kudos to the NYNJTC volunteers for the new blazes and floating bridge over the swampy northern end of Terrace Pond.
