Public Invited to Appalachian Trail Boardwalk Opening in Pawling, NY

On July 1, 2012 at 1:00 PM a grand opening celebration will be held for the newly completed Appalachian National Scenic Trail (AT) boardwalk crossing the Great Swamp in Pawling. The event will take place where the AT intersects Rt 22 near the Metro-North Railroad Appalachian Trail train station, approximately two miles north of the Village of Pawling. The public is invited. The new 1,600ft oak-decked boardwalk and 34ft Swamp River Bridge are the culmination of two and a half years of work contributed by more than 75 volunteers.
