As part of its ongoing effort to develop and interconnect the township's trail networks, West Milford's Environmental Commission is seeking to exploit the vast recreational and community trail potential it sees at Emerald Forest. The 221-acre site off Union Valley Road, formerly known as the Stanford Tract, was recently purchased by the Passaic River Coalition with the help of state and county grants for $2.5 million and is now protected from future development.
