Trail Overview
The “TK Trail,” as it is known, heads east from Teatown Lake Reservation, to connect to John E. Hand Park and Kitchawan Preserve. It is the county’s only primarily east-west linear corridor. It travels through a varied terrain of wetlands, hills, valleys, meadows, and forest. It crosses streams and provides an occasional view down to Croton Reservoir.
Park Description
Oh, the Places You’ll Go! says Dr. Seuss in his book by the same name, for there’s “Fun to be done,” he tells You. He could have had the Teatown Kitchawan Trail in mind for here’s a trail that will take you further than you thought, with links to other trails that can take you almost anywhere.
The trail is a direct link to the Briarcliff Peekskill Trailway and indirectly to the Old Croton Aqueduct and North County Trailway. The former will take you south to New York City and latter will take you north almost to Brewster in Putnam County or south to the South County Trailway and then to New York City. Teatown Lake Reservation and the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) partnered to build this trail with the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference providing expertise and volunteers to build and maintain it.
